Chief Executive Officer, President
Dr. Andy Lin is Chief Executive Officer and President of VisualOn®. Most recently, Dr. Lin was Vice President of Research and Development leading the Front-end Design (FED) Business unit in Silicon Realization Group at Cadence Design Systems (www.cadence.com). He has 20 years of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) research and development experience in logic synthesis, test, and formal verification in addressing the complexity of IC design and implementation challenges. Dr. Lin was co-founder of Verplex Systems in 1997, developing and marketing the industry’s leading solution for logic equivalency checking, which was acquired by Cadence Design Systems in 2003.
Dr. Lin holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Computer Engineering, a MS degree in Computer Science from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BS degree in Computer Science from National Taiwan University.
Senior Vice President of Engineering, Co-founder
Dr. C.Y. Bill Lin is a co-founder of VisualOn, and an expert in video/audio codec optimization and consumer multimedia software. He has extensive experience in building and managing development teams in both US and China. Prior to co-founding VisualOn, he led MedioStream’s entire US development team and was responsible for the MPEG and Digital Video codec development. His expertise in software and algorithm optimization has made a significant contribution to enhance the codec’s performance. Dr. Lin also has extensive working experience in the development of optimization algorithms including work with Tera Systems, Southern Company, Auburn University, and Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree from School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s degree from National Cheng Kung University, and a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University.
Senior Vice President of WW Sales and Business Development
Mr. Sean Torsney is the Senior Vice President of Sales for VisualOn. Mr. Torsney has over 21 years of diverse business experience including software sales, operations, applications, and engineering. He brings a proven track record of building a successful team from the ground up and driving a product to a strong market share presence despite the presence of strong entrenched competition. Prior to joining VisualOn, from 1999 to 2006 Mr. Torsney was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Verplex Systems, an EDA startup company that was acquired by Cadence Design Systems in 2003. At Verplex Systems he was responsible for building a worldwide sales and marketing organization from scratch. During his tenure at Verplex and Cadence he built and grew the organization to over 50 people worldwide while growing revenue and achieving 70% market share. He was responsible for the coordination of sales and marketing activities including overall responsibility for negotiating and managing global accounts such as Intel, Texas Instruments, Fujitsu, Toshiba, ST, Motorola, Freescale, and Philips.Prior to joining Verplex Systems in 1999, Mr. Torsney held various Sales and Application Engineering roles at Mentor Graphics from 1992 to 1999. Prior to joining Mentor Graphics, he worked for TRW as a design engineer. Mr. Torsney received his degree from the University of San Diego.
Vice President of Solutions Architecture
Mr. Luc Verbist has over 22 years experience in software and product development, software sales, operations, and application engineering. Early in his career, Mr. Verbist was instrumental in the development, architecture and bringing to market of DSP simulation, analysis and synthesis tools based on research done at the University of Leuven, Belgium (KU Leuven and research center IMEC). Later on, Mr. Verbist joined the Sales and Application Engineering team at Mentor Graphics in San Jose, CA. Here, he helped to build and deploy full custom design flows for marquee customers such as Lucent, HAL Computers, Qualcomm, etc. He was also responsible for bringing emerging technology to the market, specifically, the co-simulation tool, Seamless, for embedded software design. Following this, Mr. Verbist lead the AE and Customer Support teams at Virtual Silicon and then Synopsys. Prior to joining VisualOn, he spent 4 years with Coherent Logix and was responsible for the software architecture and programming model slated for their HyperX multi-core chip, the functional verification of their first chip and the development of SDR and video algorithms for the HyperX architecture.
Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Deepak Das is the Vice president of Marketing and is responsible for corporate and product strategy, marketing programs, and management of the VisualOn brand equity. Deepak brings over 20 years of diverse industry experience in leadership roles and is a speaker on technology and business aspects of media trends at industry events. Deepak has always embraced “commercialization of innovation”, delivering technology-enabled solutions across a wide variety of industry verticals. Prior to VisualOn, he was the Director of Sales and Business Development in the Advanced Enterprise Mobility Solutions group at AT&T. Prior to that he Co-founded MOBOW Inc., a seed funded mobile technology company whose products focused on leveraging micro-expression and presence for enhanced communication and collaboration. He has also acted as a strategic advisor for other mobile and technology startup companies in the collaboration, decision engines, and healthcare/EMR areas. Deepak has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University, India. He has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from NJIT, and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
