Coasia Micro Electronics and VisualOn partner on Samsung 2410 and 2440 reference designs to demonstrate high quality multimedia for Samsung based handsets.

VisualOn Inc., a leading provider of mobile multimedia solutions and Coasia Microelectronics, the leading distributor in Taiwan of Samsung 2410 and 2440 ARM based processors today announced they will be partner on several enabling platforms to demonstrate high quality multimedia on Samsung ARM based handheld devices.  The reference designs will be targeting portable GPS devices, Smart phones, Mobile TV terminal, PDAs and other portable devices. 

Multimedia capability has become a must have requirement for portable device manufacturers.  “Samsung’s 2410 and 2440 CPUs are a very popular platform in these markets.  However, many of our customers and potential customers want to realize the actual multimedia capabilities that can be support with the Samsung’s 2410 and 2440,” said H.K. Lee, Director of Mobile Solution Div., CoAsia Coasia Rep and Title.  “We decided to work with VisualOn on the demo platforms because VisualOn has repeatedly demonstrated on several customer designs the ability to play back very high quality audio and video on Samsung 2410 and 2240 based handheld devices, including the ability to playback MPEG4 video at 30fps at WQVGA resolution.  We haven’t seen this level of performance with other software based solutions.”

The demo platforms are immediately available and can demonstrate support for all the popular audio and video standards such as, H.264, MPEG4, H.263, WMV, AAC, AAC+, MP3, and WMA.   The demo platforms  will also support and demonstrate important mobile video applications including media player, video recorder, Mobile TV and streaming Video On Demand (VOD)
