Dr. Yang Cai is a startup veteran with a passion for developing leading edge technologies. He is an expert in algorithm design and optimization and earned a reputation for delivering “best in class” products. Prior to co-founding VisualOn®, he was the Senior VP – Engineering of MedioStream and pioneered real-time high quality software MPEG-2 encoding with performance twice as fast as its closest competitors, according to an independent study by the PC World Magazine. Prior to MedioStream, he was a founding technical member of two EDA startup companies. He has considerable first-hand experiences in product management, general corporate management, financial planning, and sales and marketing. Dr. Cai has more than 20 technical publications and holds multiple US patents. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, his MS degree from the University of Kansas, and his BS degree from Peking University, China.
Dr. C.Y. Bill Lin is a co-founder of VisualOn, and an expert in video/audio codec optimization and consumer multimedia software. He has extensive experience in building and managing development teams in both US and China. Prior to co-founding VisualOn, he led MedioStream’s entire US development team and was responsible for the MPEG and Digital Video codec development. His expertise in software and algorithm optimization has made a significant contribution to enhance the codec’s performance. Dr. Lin also has extensive working experience in the development of optimization algorithms including work with Tera Systems, Southern Company, Auburn University, and Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree from School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s degree from National Cheng Kung University, and a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University.
Dr. Lin has over 20+ years of Electrical Design Automation (EDA) research and development experience in logic synthesis, test, and formal verification in addressing the complexity of IC design and implementation challenges. Dr. Lin was recently the Chief Executive Officer and President of VisualOn. Prior to that, Dr. Lin was Vice President of Research and Development leading the Front-end Design (FED) Business unit in Silicon Realization Group at Cadence Design Systems (www.cadence.com). Dr. Lin was co-founder of Verplex Systems in 1997, developing and marketing the industry’s leading solution for logic equivalency checking, which was acquired by Cadence Design Systems in 2003.
Dr. Lin holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Computer Engineering, a MS degree in Computer Science from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BS degree in Computer Science from National Taiwan University.
Mr. Handel Jones is the founder, owner, and CEO of International Business Strategies, Inc. (Los Gatos, CA). He has over 35 years of experience in the industry, which has included senior management positions at ITT and at Rockwell International, which was one of the leading telecommunications, switching, and transmission companies in the world (an organization with over 100K employees), where he was VP of Strategic Planning, Acquisitions, International Marketing, and Engineering for the Commercial Electronics group. At Rockwell, he managed over 1,500 engineers.

Mr. Louie Liu has been a board member of VisualOn since 2003. He brings to the company a combination of venture capital and operating experience. Mr. Liu worked as a general partner of AsiaTech Management and a venture partner of ARCH Venture Partners in both Silicon Valley and China. Previously, he served as board member or board observer in multiple companies, including CenterRun （acq’d by Sun), WIDCOMM (acq’d by Broadcom), Nanostellar, Ipedo, Intruguard (acq’d by Fortinet), Everypath, ANDevices (acq’d by Enablence), Stonewall Networks （acq’d by NuMobile). He also led his fund’s investment in 21Vianet (Nasdaq) and Maxlinear (NYSE). Previously, he worked in product management at HP and Lucent Technologies. Mr. Liu currently sits on the board of Meilong Food, a bakery and coffee chain with 200+ stores in China, and Miaxis, a leading Chinese bio-matrix technology company.
Mr. Liu graduated from Tsinghua University in China and has an MBA from the Booth School of Business of the University of Chicago.
